I know parenting is challenging. I get it—I have three boys of my own.
But that doesn’t mean we need to give up on the health of our kids.
As a pediatrician at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta and medical director of the Health4Life Program, I work with kids and families struggling with their weight every single day. I see their challenges and I see their breakthroughs.
The fact is, nearly 40% of Georgia’s kids are overweight or obese, meaning they are at risk for adult diseases such as type II diabetes, high blood pressure, and fatty liver disease, just to name a few. As a mom—and a physician—I am proud that Children’s took a stand and launched Strong4Life to turn the tide of childhood obesity in our state.
I’m here to be your friend, your coach, your cheerleader and fellow parent who is trying to stay on top of it all. I am here to help you take a stand in your home and in your community, to help stop the cycle of childhood obesity.
